Exclusively for CHEO Staff, vegetable boxes available for pickup at the Farmers' Market on Wednesdays
The harvest subscription runs for 17 weeks, from June 18 to October 11, 2024. During this time, there is a weekly pick up of a fresh vegetable box at our farm at 2510 White Street. Navan, ON K4B 1H9, off Renaud Road.
Farm pickups, choose one of two pick up times:
We recommend that you bring your own bags and/or boxes, to reduce the use of plastic. If you are unable to come on your pick up day, a friend or family member can pick up your box. See exceptions, terms and conditions below.
When you purchase a vegetable box, you are directly contributing to our farm. This allows us to invest into better machinery, better crop management and innovative ways to sustain the environment. Your contribution to the farm will help secure our future in the agriculture industry and the future of our local food supply.
Vegetables grown on Navan soil, by Navan people. Each week, your box will be filled with our freshly harvested seasonal vegetables, alongside one of our specialty lettuce. Refer to the list below to find out what’s in season. Note that not all vegetables listed below will be included in the box each week. We want to provide as much variety as possible and will alternate vegetables weekly.
One box feeds approximately 2 adults and 2 children. In addition to our large variety of produce, we partner with another local farm to offer different products each week.
Specialty lettuces (available all season): Romaine, green leaf, red leaf, oak leaf, red boston, iceberg.
June: Lettuce, spinach, asparagus, rhubarb, garlic scapes, green onions, radishes, beets, bok choy, peas, fresh herbs. Strawberries from Avonmore Berry Farm.
July: Lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, kale, garlic, radishes, spring onions, cucumbers, zucchinis, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, beans, potatoes, fresh herbs.
Aug/Sept: Lettuce, kale, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Italian tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, beans, cucumbers, zucchinis, eggplants, beets, carrots, potatoes, garlic, Spanish onions, cabbages, parsnips, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, fresh herbs. Corn from Avonmore Berry Farm.
October: Lettuce, kale, winter squashes, leeks, sweet potatoes, and most of September’s vegetables, depending on frost.
The boxes are $33.00 each week for a total of $561.00 for the 17 weeks. The advantage to signing up for the season: getting the equivalent of $35.00 worth of assorted produce each week! The season runs from June 18 to October 11, 2024. Should the start of the season be delayed due to meteorological reasons, we will extend the season accordingly.
Payment can be made by e-transfer, cash, debit. We also offer the option of three equal installment payments made on June 18, August 6, and September 3.
Split-option: If a weekly box seems like too much vegetables, we suggest splitting the weekly pickup with a friend or a family member. With the split-option, a box will still be picked up every week, by one of the two people subscribed. We can arrange to split payments equally between the two parties, and everyone can enjoy our fresh vegetables!
Start-option: If you would like to give it a try for 1 or 2 weeks, please notify us by email or phone at least 1 day in advance that you would like to purchase a start-option box on any pickup days, Tuesdays or Fridays. The box must be paid on pickup day, in the amount of $35.00 each. This option is subject to product availability.
We are currently accepting subscriptions for the 2024 season.
By signing up for the season, you are responsible for paying the amount in full either on the day you sign-up, the first day of pickup, or by the due dates in the three installment payment plan.
To sign up, simply send us an email to bergeron.gardens@gmail.com along with your name. You will receive a confirmation email with all the information and next steps.
Deadline to sign-up: July 23, 2024 (cost will be prorated). After July 23, sign-ups will be accepted if availability permits, at the price of $35.00 a week.
Swap/allergy: We will allow a swap of one produce for another if a customer has a food allergy. A swap will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Vacation stop: If you are unable to pick up your box on any given week, we recommend that you transfer your box to a friend or family member and send us a quick email to notify us of the changes. Alternatively, you can suspend your subscription for one or two weeks. This has to be done by email at least one week in advance. No refunds will be issued.
Missed pick ups: If you are unable to make the scheduled pick up times, you can ask a friend or family member to pick up your box. That person will simply use your name on the pickup day. If nobody comes for the box on the pickup day, it will be considered a missed pick up and it will mean you lose your box for that week. The box will be donated to one of our lovely neighbors on White Street. No replacement boxes or refunds will be issued.
Cancellation: If you are moving away or do not wish to continue your subscription, please get in touch via phone or email to discuss!
Responsibilities: We are working towards ways to minimize our environmental impact and our carbon footprint, and to insure sustainability. We are committed to growing the best quality of produce, in rich soil, harvested daily. We believe in our conventional growing practices such as tunnel growing in the spring, reduced use of machinery during the summer months and crop rotation in the fall.
Meteorological event: In the event of a crop failure due to hail, frost, heavy rain or lack of rain, rest assured that we will fill your weekly box to the best of our abilities with the produce that we have available in the fields on that given period.
When you become part of the farm, you are sharing our successes but also our risks.
For any other questions, please get in touch via email, phone or text.
