Jardins Bergeron Gardens is launching a subscription to a freshly harvested vegetable box. Our vegetables are grown by two brothers, Denis & Gilles Bergeron, in the Navan/Orléans area. We use conventional growing methods, to ensure economic, social and environmental sustainability. Our practices include crop rotation, tunnel growing and manual weeding which reduces the use of synthetic components. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy supply of fresh vegetables every week.
The harvest subscription runs for 10 to 13 weeks, from July 3rd to September 25th, 2024.
During this time, there is a weekly pickup of a fresh vegetable box, on Wednesdays, at the outdoor Farmers' Market at CHEO, near the playground.
We recommend that you bring your own bags and/or boxes, to reduce the use of plastic. If you are unable to come that day, a friend or family member can pickup your box.
Exceptions for vacations can also be requested by e-mail, at least one week in advance at bergeron.gardens@gmail.com. Subscription can be for 10 weeks (vacation) or the full 13 weeks. See details in Terms & Conditions.
The vegetable boxes cost $25.00 each. This price is exclusively available for CHEO Staff
The weekly box contains a variety of vegetables grown on our farm. Every week, you can expect our specialty lettuce, along with other fresh seasonal vegetables. Refer to the list below to find out what’s in season.
Note that not all vegetables listed below will be included in the box each week. We want to provide as much variety as possible and will alternate vegetables weekly.
July: 6 varieties of lettuces, radishes, spring onions, spinach, swiss chard, kale, garlic scapes, garlic, cucumbers, zucchinis, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, beans, potatoes.
August to September: Lettuces, kale, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Italian tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis, beets, carrots, garlic, Spanish onions, eggplants, cabbages, carrots, beans, parsnips, potatoes, brussels sprouts, fresh herbs. Winter squash and sweet potatoes may be available at the end of September, depending on frost.
When you purchase a vegetable box, you are directly contributing to our farm. This allows us to invest into better machinery, better crop management and innovative ways to sustain the environment. Being part of the farm will help secure our future in the agriculture industry and the future of our local food supply.
Vacation stop: If you are unable to pick up your box on any given week, we recommend that you transfer your box to a friend or family member. They can simply provide your name at time of pick-up. Alternatively, you can suspend your subscription for one, two or three weeks. When you sign up, be sure to indicate vacation days, and if you would like the box for 10 weeks instead of 13 weeks.
Missed pickups: If you are unable to make the scheduled pick-up time, you can ask a friend or family member pick up your box in your place. A missed pick-up will mean you lose your box for that week. The box will be donated to an organization near the hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Rotel Motel or giving to someone in need. No replacement boxes or refunds will be issued.
Cancellations: If your work schedule changes, you are transferring positions, you are moving away or you do not wish to continue your subscription, please get in touch via phone or email to discuss!
